The funding is being provided as part of the Transportation, Community, and System Preservation Program from the Federal Highway Administration. The grant award is $1,043,520 and requires a 20% local match. The total cost of the project will be $1,304,400. This will do alot to bring different neighborhoods together and give walkers, joggers, bikers a safer place to do what they like instead of using the traffic congested Ribaut road. The path also has alot of very scenic veiws of the marsh especially behind the Technical College of the LowCountry.
im excited about a railroad system in beaufort. when i saw the tracks uprooted on highway 21 i felt that history was heading out the door, but to reconstruct a rail system in beaufort for beaufort sounds like an enriched cultural experience that would give people a mind to work, a fun experience for people and families and a way to preserve foundation in the historical city. i’m behind it.Thanks Beaufort!
This is a great idea …lets do it. How can I or anyone other interested party help with this. The sooner the beter!
